History of Thomas-Spann Clinic

On July 15th, 1949, Thomas-Spann Clinic and Hospital opened for business. The original building housed thirteen beds for in-patient treatment, offices for eight doctors, an x-ray department and laboratory.

May, 1954 marked the completion of the clinic's first expansion project. The finished space doubled in-patient capacity and added office rooms for four new staff doctors. When the remodeling was finished, Thomas-Spann Clinic and Hospital was the first completely air conditioned facility in the area.

Thomas-Spann Clinic and Hospital constructed the third and final addition, a second story, in 1959. This brought total capacity to 56 beds. The hospital was "modern in every respect and with the latest equipment," including fully equipped operating rooms.

In 1975, a local hospital purchased the Thomas-Spann Hospital building, allowing the Thomas-Spann Clinic physicians to enhance the quality of their outpatient medical care.

Today, Thomas-Spann Clinic, P.A. is a partnership of practicing physicians which evolved from the group originally founded in 1949. The medical staff is now comprised of family practitioners and internal medicine specialists. The facility offers a full range of services, including laboratory, x-ray, and the finest medical staff and care in the area.
